Collection: Tame Impala Vinyl Records – Psychedelic Albums & Reissues on Vinyl

Tame Impala is essentially Kevin Parker — a one-man studio project from Perth, Australia, who writes, records, produces, and mixes everything himself. The early records sound like late-60s psychedelia filtered through modern production. The later ones move into synth-pop and disco territory without losing the hypnotic quality that makes the whole thing work. Parker has an extraordinary ear for texture and sound design, and it shows on every record.

On vinyl, Tame Impala is a revelation. The production is built for analogue — swirling phaser effects, deep bass, wide stereo imaging, and layers of reverb that fill the room. These records were made to be played loud on good equipment, and vinyl is the format that does them justice.

Best Tame Impala Albums on Vinyl

Innerspeaker (2010) The debut — heavy, hazy psychedelic rock that sounds like it was recorded in 1969. "Solitude Is Bliss," "Lucidity," and "Expectation" are standouts. The guitar tone alone is worth the price of admission. Raw and immediate in a way the later records deliberately aren't.

Lonerism (2012) Parker's leap forward. Bigger production, more ambitious songwriting, the same psychedelic core. "Feels Like We Only Go Backwards," "Elephant," and "Apocalypse Dreams" are all-time great tracks. One of the best albums of the 2010s.

Currents (2015) The pivot. Synths replace guitars, disco replaces psych-rock, and Parker emerges as a pop songwriter of rare quality. "Let It Happen," "The Less I Know the Better," and "New Person, Same Old Mistakes" — every track is meticulously crafted. Divisive among early fans, but a masterpiece on its own terms.

The Slow Rush (2020) Deeper into synth-pop territory, with themes of time and mortality. "Borderline," "Lost in Yesterday," and "Is It True" are the highlights. Possibly the best-sounding Tame Impala record on vinyl, with incredible low-end detail.
