Collection: Bob Marley Vinyl Records – Reggae Classics & Essential Albums on Vinyl

The Wailers' arrival on Island Records in 1973 with Catch a Fire reframed what reggae could be on a global scale. The Jamaican rhythm section — Aston "Family Man" Barrett on bass, his brother Carlton on drums — provided one of the most consequential rhythm partnerships of the 20th century, and Marley's songwriting moved between political urgency, romantic devotion and Rastafarian spirituality with a directness that translated everywhere.

The Island pressings were cut for serious bass — Family Man's playing in particular benefits from the LP format, where the low-end can sit deep without compression.
