Collection: Black Sabbath Vinyl Records – Classic Albums & Essential Reissues

Black Sabbath invented heavy metal. That's not hyperbole — their 1970 debut and the records that followed it created a template that thousands of bands have spent the following five decades trying to replicate. Tony Iommi's down-tuned riffs, Geezer Butler's thunderous bass and Ozzy Osbourne's banshee wail were like nothing rock had produced before.

Paranoid remains the essential record: War Pigs, Iron Man, Fairies Wear Boots — every track is a classic. Master of Reality pushed the heaviness even further. Later with Dio at the helm, Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules showed the band could evolve without losing what made them essential.

On vinyl, Sabbath sounds exactly as heavy as it should. Buy Paranoid first. Then buy the rest.

Best Black Sabbath Albums on Vinyl

Black Sabbath (1970)
The debut that started everything. A thunderous, blues-drenched record that established the template for heavy metal in a single sitting. Fairies Wear Boots, N.I.B., The Wizard — every track is essential.

Paranoid (1970)
Released just months after the debut, Paranoid is the masterpiece. War Pigs, Iron Man, Paranoid and Fairies Wear Boots make it one of the greatest hard rock albums ever made — the one to start with.

Master of Reality (1971)
Tony Iommi's tunings dropped even lower and the result is arguably their heaviest record. Sweet Leaf and Children of the Grave are landmarks. A short, uncompromising album that hits like a freight train.

Heaven and Hell (1980)
With Ronnie James Dio replacing Osbourne, the band proved they could evolve. Neon Knights and Die Young are among their finest moments, and Dio's operatic voice gave the band a new dimension.

Mob Rules (1981)
The second album with Dio, and equally strong. The title track, Turn Up the Night and Falling Off the Edge of the World show a band still operating at the highest level. An underrated gem.
