Collection: The Cure Vinyl Records – Classic Albums & Essential Reissues

The Cure are one of British post-punk's most enduring and versatile bands, capable of both crushing gothic despair and jangly, infectious pop — sometimes within the same album. Robert Smith's band have been making essential records since the late 1970s and show no signs of stopping.

Their run from 1982's Pornography through to 1989's Disintegration is one of the great sustained creative streaks in British music. Faith, The Head on the Door, Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me and Disintegration all stand alone as distinct artistic statements. Disintegration in particular is a landmark — lush, overwhelming, and strangely beautiful.

On vinyl these records sound magnificent. The dense layering and Smith's guitar textures reward proper speakers and a good needle.

Best The Cure Albums on Vinyl

Seventeen Seconds (1980)
The band's second album marked their definitive turn towards introspective post-punk. A Reflection and Play for Today established the moody, minimalist sound that would define their early 1980s work.

Faith (1981)
Deeper and more meditative than its predecessor, Faith is a masterwork of grey-toned post-punk. The Holy Hour and The Funeral Party remain among Smith's most haunting compositions.

Pornography (1982)
The darkest record in The Cure's catalogue — unrelenting, claustrophobic, and utterly essential. One Hundred Years opens with one of the most threatening guitar riffs in rock history.

The Head on the Door (1985)
A pop masterstroke following their bleakest period. In Between Days and Close to Me showed Smith could write effortlessly catchy songs without sacrificing the band's identity.

Disintegration (1989)
Widely considered their masterpiece. Lush, orchestral, and emotionally overwhelming — Lovesong, Pictures of You and Fascination Street make this one of the finest albums of the decade.
