Description

Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie is the fourth studio album by Alanis Morissette, released on 3 November 1998 — and one of the most daunting follow-up records of the 1990s. Coming three years after Jagged Little Pill had sold over 33 million copies worldwide and won five Grammy Awards including Album of the Year, it had the unenviable task of succeeding one of the decade's defining records. Morissette met the challenge by going further and stranger: seventeen tracks across 71 minutes, denser in arrangement, more exploratory in structure and more inward in lyrical focus, drawing on Buddhist philosophy and personal transformation in equal measure.

The album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 with the highest first-week sales by a female artist at the time. Co-produced with returning collaborator Glen Ballard, it opens with the circular, meditative rush of "Front Row" before delivering the album's signature moment, "Thank U" — a hushed, percussion-led single that reached the top twenty in the US and became one of her most-loved recordings. "Joining You", "That I Would Be Good" and "So Pure" further demonstrate the range of a songwriter at the height of her craft.

This Music On Vinyl reissue presents the album on double 180-gram black vinyl in a gatefold sleeve — the first time the album received a proper audiophile vinyl treatment.
