On An Island is the third solo studio album by David Gilmour, released on 6 March 2006 on EMI. It debuted at number one in the UK Albums Chart, making it Gilmour's first solo chart-topper, and reached the top five in multiple countries worldwide. It was his first album of new material in nearly two decades, following 1984's About Face.

Produced by Gilmour, Chris Thomas and Phil Manzanera, with lyrics by Polly Samson, the album is a contemplative, richly layered work that draws on Gilmour's signature guitar tone without retreading Pink Floyd territory. The title track, On An Island, is a gorgeous, slowly unfolding piece built around acoustic guitar and orchestral strings. Castellorizon opens the album as a wordless instrumental, setting a Mediterranean mood, while Take A Breath and Then I Close My Eyes build to soaring, emotional peaks.

Guest musicians include Robert Wyatt on percussion and cornet, David Crosby and Graham Nash on backing vocals, and the Polish Baltic Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Zbigniew Preisner. This heavyweight vinyl reissue on Columbia US presents the album in a gatefold sleeve with insert.
