Description

Gary Numan's The Pleasure Principle was originally released in September 1979 and became his most commercially successful album, reaching number one in the UK. Produced by Numan himself, it was a groundbreaking work that abandoned guitars entirely in favour of synthesisers, drum machines and electronic textures, centred around the iconic single Cars.

The album moves from the driving electronic pulse of Cars through the atmospheric Metal and Films to the darker textures of M.E. and Conversation. Numan's cold, detached vocal style perfectly complements the mechanical precision of the arrangements, creating a template that would influence decades of electronic and industrial music.

This Beggars Banquet reissue presents the album on black vinyl.
