Humanz is the fifth studio album by Gorillaz, released on 28 April 2017 on Parlophone — the band's first album in seven years following The Fall in 2011. Produced by Gorillaz alongside The Twilight Tone and Remi Kabaka Jr. and recorded across sessions in London, Paris, New York, Chicago and Jamaica, it arrived as a sprawling, genre-defying party record conceived against the backdrop of global political upheaval. Damon Albarn described the album as music for the end of the world — designed to be danced to even as things fall apart around you.

The album assembles one of the most ambitious guest rosters in Gorillaz history: Grace Jones, Mavis Staples, Pusha T, Vince Staples, Danny Brown, De La Soul, Kelela, Benjamin Clementine, Jehnny Beth of Savages, Kali Uchis and Jamaican dancehall artist Popcaan all contribute, lending the record a genuinely cross-genre, multi-continental energy. Standout moments include the dancehall-inflected "Saturnz Barz" with Popcaan, the soulful gospel of "Let Me Out" with Pusha T and Mavis Staples, and the euphoric closer "We Got the Power" with Jehnny Beth. The album reached number one in the UK and number two in the US, and won Gorillaz the BRIT Award for Best British Group the following year.
