Grace is the only completed studio album by Jeff Buckley, a record whose emotional intensity, vocal range and musical ambition have made it one of the most revered albums of the 1990s. Produced by Andy Wallace and released on Columbia Records, the album drew on influences from Led Zeppelin and Nina Simone to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Benjamin Britten, creating a sound that defied easy categorisation.

Buckley's extraordinary voice -- a four-octave instrument capable of moving from a whisper to a full-throated wail within a single phrase -- is the album's defining element. Mojo Pin opens with a slow, dreamlike passage before erupting into a torrent of distorted guitar and impassioned vocals. Last Goodbye is the album's most immediate track, a surging rock song with one of the decade's great vocal performances. His interpretation of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah has become the definitive version of the song, its delicate fingerpicked guitar and building emotional intensity transforming an already powerful composition. Lover, You Should've Come Over is a slow-burning ballad of devastating beauty, while Dream Brother closes the album with an atmospheric, percussion-driven arrangement.
