Jimmy Reed's Rockin' With Reed, originally released in 1959 on Vee-Jay Records, is one of the foundational albums of the Chicago blues. Reed's laid-back, hypnotic style -- built on walking bass lines, rhythmic harmonica and that unmistakable lazy vocal delivery -- made him one of the best-selling blues artists of the 1950s and 1960s, and a direct influence on the Rolling Stones, the Animals and countless other British Invasion acts. This Blues Joint reissue presents the album on 180 gram vinyl in its original mono mix.

The album features some of Reed's most enduring songs, including Take Out Some Insurance and Caress Me Baby, alongside the propulsive title track Rockin' With Reed. Eddie Taylor's rock-steady guitar work anchors every track, while Reed's own lead guitar and harmonica weave through the arrangements with deceptive simplicity. This reissue adds nine bonus tracks not on the original LP, including Big Boss Man and Bright Lights, Big City, two of Reed's biggest hits. All tracks were recorded in Chicago, Illinois.
