Description
Coda is Led Zeppelin's posthumous ninth studio album — assembled by Jimmy Page from outtakes and alternate versions in the two years after John Bonham's death, and released in November 1982 as the band's Swan Song farewell. The eight-track single-LP programme draws on sessions running from the 1970 Led Zeppelin III dates through to the 1978 In Through The Out Door period, giving a compressed tour of the band's musical vocabulary across one disc.
Side one opens on the 1969 Ben E. King cover We're Gonna Groove, moves through the acoustic Led Zeppelin III outtake Poor Tom, a live-in-the-studio take of Willie Dixon's I Can't Quit You Baby, and the 1972 heavy blues Walter's Walk. Side two is drawn largely from the 1978 In Through The Out Door sessions in Stockholm — Ozone Baby and Darlene, the Bonham drum feature Bonzo's Montreux, and the closing fast-rocker Wearing And Tearing, cut the same week and famously held back for what would have been a Zeppelin punk-era response.
This LP is Jimmy Page's 2015 remaster, housed in an embossed gatefold sleeve and pressed on 180g vinyl in Europe.
