Description

In Through The Out Door is Led Zeppelin's final studio album to be released in the band's lifetime, cut across three weeks at ABBA's Polar Studios in Stockholm in the winter of 1978 and released in August 1979. With Jimmy Page temporarily sidelined by personal circumstances and drummer John Bonham recording drums on tape for only part of the sessions, this is a record on which John Paul Jones's keyboards step into the foreground — most famously on the Yamaha GX-1 synth riff of In The Evening and the sprawling piano set-piece Carouselambra.

The record holds the rockabilly pastiche of Hot Dog, the pastoral All My Love (written by Plant and Jones for Plant's son Karac), the blues workout South Bound Suarez, and the closing I'm Gonna Crawl. It's the Zeppelin album where the band acknowledge the world has changed around them — punk, disco, synthesiser pop — and try to answer on their own terms.

This edition is the 2015 Jimmy Page remaster in the "A" variant of the famously brown-paper-bag outer sleeve, one of six originally randomised sleeve designs. Pressed on 180g vinyl in the United States.
