Description

Nils Frahm's All Melody was released on Erased Tapes Records in January 2018 and marked his first album of new original material in five years. Entirely written, produced and recorded by Frahm at his custom-built Saal 3 studio in Berlin's Funkhaus complex between 2016 and 2017, the album draws on an unusually wide palette of instruments — pipe organ, harmonium, mellotron, celesta, bespoke modular synthesis, drum machines and a handmade pipe organ built for the studio — alongside the pianist's signature processed acoustic piano.

The record opens with the choral The Whole Universe Wants To Be Touched, featuring the vocal ensemble Shards conducted by Kieran Brunt, and moves through pieces including Sunson, My Friend The Forest and the expansive nine-minute title track All Melody. Frahm is joined by long-time collaborator Anne Müller on cello, Sven Kacirek on bass marimba, Erik K. Skodvin on processed guitar, Richard Koch on trumpet and Viktor Orri Árnason on viola.

Presented across two discs in a matte embossed single pocket jacket with a 10-page booklet containing studio photographs and notes from the artist. Mastered by Zino Mikorey in Berlin and pressed in the EU.
