Wild Is The Wind is Nina Simone’s sixth studio album — a haunting, eclectic masterpiece that showcases her emotional depth, genre-defying artistry, and uncompromising vision. This Acoustic Sounds Series reissue is pressed on 180g audiophile-grade vinyl, housed in a deluxe gatefold tip-on jacket printed by Stoughton, and mastered by Ryan K. Smith at Sterling Sound from the original analogue tapes. The pressing was handled by Quality Record Pressings, ensuring exceptional clarity, warmth, and quiet surfaces.

Originally compiled from leftover recordings spanning 1964–1965, the album includes Simone’s definitive renditions of “Lilac Wine,” “Black Is The Color Of My True Love’s Hair,” and the title track “Wild Is The Wind,” later famously covered by David Bowie. It also features the powerful and controversial “Four Women,” which was banned by New York jazz radio station WLIB for its unflinching portrayal of Black female archetypes. With sparse arrangements and Simone’s commanding vocals, the album remains one of her most revered works — ranked #212 on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
