Description
Heathen Chemistry is the fifth studio album from Oasis, originally released in July 2002 on Big Brother. It was the first album to feature guitarist Gem Archer and bassist Andy Bell, and the first since the departure of founding members Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs and Paul “Guigsy” McGuigan. The album reached number one on the UK Albums Chart and produced four singles: The Hindu Times, Stop Crying Your Heart Out, Little By Little, and Songbird.
Produced by the band themselves and engineered by Paul ‘P-Dub’ Walton, Heathen Chemistry marked a return to a more direct, guitar-driven sound after the orchestral ambitions of Standing on the Shoulder of Giants. Songbird, written and sung by Liam Gallagher, became one of his most recognisable vocal performances. Johnny Marr contributes guitar on (Probably) All In The Mind and Born On A Different Cloud, adding a shimmer of Smiths-era texture to the new lineup’s sound. Mixed by Mark “Spike” Stent.
This 2020 reissue is pressed at 180g and cut at 45 RPM across four sides in a gatefold sleeve with two printed inner sleeves and a four-page booklet. The higher playback speed and heavier vinyl deliver improved dynamic range and fidelity compared to standard pressings.
