Description

Amnesiac is the fifth studio album from Radiohead, originally released in June 2001 on Parlophone. Recorded during the same sessions as Kid A at studios in Copenhagen, Paris, Gloucestershire, and Oxford, the album draws on the same palette of electronic textures, processed instrumentation, and fractured song structures — but applies them to a more varied and often darker set of compositions. It reached number one in the UK and number two on the Billboard 200.

Pyramid Song, built around Thom Yorke’s piano and Jonny Greenwood’s ondes Martenot, is one of the band’s most affecting recordings — an elegy that unfolds in a deliberately disorienting time signature. Knives Out channels the band’s guitar-driven roots through a taut, minor-key arrangement, while I Might Be Wrong builds from a single looped riff into one of the album’s most propulsive moments. Like Spinning Plates was constructed by reversing a live performance, then learning to sing the melody backwards. The album closes with Life In A Glasshouse, featuring the Humphrey Lyttelton Band on New Orleans–style brass.

This 2023 reissue on XL Recordings is cut at 45 RPM across four sides, with lacquers prepared at Abbey Road Studios and pressing by GZ Media in the Czech Republic.
