Description

Californication is the seventh studio album by Red Hot Chili Peppers, released on 8 June 1999 on Warner Bros. Records. It marked the return of guitarist John Frusciante to the band after a six-year absence and a well-documented struggle with addiction, and the difference was transformative: the raw funk-punk energy of the Chili Peppers' earlier work was now channelled through melodic songwriting and spacious production from Rick Rubin.

The album produced some of the band's most enduring songs. Scar Tissue won a Grammy for Best Rock Song, Californication became one of the defining rock tracks of the late 1990s, and Otherside and Around the World were massive radio staples. Deeper into the record, tracks like Porcelain, Easily and Road Trippin' showed a reflective, acoustic-tinged side to the band that would shape their direction for years to come.

Californication sold over 16 million copies worldwide and revitalised the band's career. This reissue on Warner Records presents the full 15-track album across two LPs with an insert.
