Live At The Harlem Square Club, 1963 — subtitled One Night Stand! — is the live Sam Cooke that RCA kept in the vault for more than twenty years. Recorded on 12 January 1963 in Miami in front of a predominantly Black audience, the tape preserves a version of Cooke that his hit records only hinted at: gritty, sweating, gospel-loud, working the room rather than the crossover market. RCA thought the performance was too raw to release alongside the smooth studio sides that were selling millions, and shelved it. When the album finally appeared in 1985 it instantly rewrote Cooke's reputation.

The programme opens on King Curtis's band running through his instrumental Soul Twist as Cooke is introduced, then moves through Feel It (Don't Fight It), Chain Gang, Cupid, a medley of It's All Right / For Sentimental Reasons, Twistin' The Night Away, Somebody Have Mercy, Bring It On Home To Me, Nothing Can Change This Love and the closing Having A Party. King Curtis's orchestra backs him, and the crowd is very much in the mix.

This February 2026 Music On Vinyl reissue is remastered for vinyl and pressed in Europe, restoring one of the most influential live soul recordings to audiophile LP.
