Seventeen Going Under is the second studio album from Sam Fender, released in October 2021 on Polydor Records. It debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart, following the success of Hypersonic Missiles, and won the 2022 BRIT Award for Best Rock/Alternative Album. Where the debut cast a wide net across geopolitics and social commentary, Seventeen Going Under turns inward — Fender writing about his adolescence in North Shields, family struggles, and the fallout of growing up in a post-industrial northeast.

The title track became one of the defining British guitar songs of the early 2020s, its anthemic chorus matched by the directness of the lyrics. Spit Of You deals with Fender’s relationship with his father, Getting Started opens with an urgency that barely lets up, and The Dying Light closes the album on a quieter, more reflective note. Across the record, Fender’s saxophone lines weave through a sound built on Springsteen-scale ambition filtered through the specifics of Tyneside.
