Reign in Blood is the third studio album by Slayer, produced by Rick Rubin and originally released on Def Jam Recordings. At just under 29 minutes across ten tracks, it is one of the most concentrated and influential records in heavy metal history, setting a benchmark for speed, precision and aggression that defined thrash metal's peak era.

The album is bookended by two of the genre's most iconic tracks. Angel of Death opens with Kerry King's dive-bomb guitar shriek before launching into a relentless barrage, while Raining Blood closes the record with its legendary descending riff and apocalyptic rainstorm intro. Between them, tracks like Altar of Sacrifice, Necrophobic and Postmortem maintain an almost unbearable intensity. Dave Lombardo's drumming throughout is a masterclass in controlled fury, and Tom Araya's vocal delivery set the template for extreme metal vocalists to follow.
