Description

Doggystyle is the debut studio album by Snoop Dogg (credited as Snoop Doggy Dogg on the original release), released on Death Row Records. Arriving amid enormous anticipation following his featured appearances on Dr. Dre's The Chronic, the album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and became one of the defining records of West Coast G-funk.

Produced primarily by Dr. Dre, the album's sound is built on smooth synthesizer lines, deep bass and laid-back tempos that became the blueprint for a generation of West Coast hip-hop. Gin and Juice and Who Am I (What's My Name?) became crossover hits, combining Snoop's effortless, drawling flow with irresistible hooks. Murder Was the Case takes a darker turn with its cinematic storytelling, while Lodi Dodi updates Slick Rick's classic with a G-funk treatment. Ain't No Fun features guest verses from Kurupt, Nate Dogg and Warren G. This 30th anniversary edition restores Gz Up, Hoes Down, a track that had been absent from vinyl pressings since the original 1993 release.
