Description

Supertramp's third studio album Crime Of The Century, released in September 1974, was the record that transformed them from a struggling art rock band into one of the defining acts of the progressive pop era. Produced by Ken Scott at Trident, Ramport and Scorpio studios, the album was the first to feature the classic line-up of Roger Hodgson, Rick Davies, John Helliwell, Dougie Thomson and Bob Siebenberg, and its lush, layered production set the template for everything that followed.

The album opens with School, a wry commentary on institutional conformity driven by Hodgson's cascading piano, and closes with the epic title track Crime Of The Century. Between them, Bloody Well Right became the band's first US hit, while Dreamer -- released as a single in 1975 -- remains one of their most recognisable songs. Hide In Your Shell and Asylum showcase the band's ability to build complex, emotionally charged arrangements. This 50th Anniversary Edition is pressed on 180 gram heavyweight vinyl and half speed mastered at Abbey Road Studios.
