Description

Abbey Road is the eleventh studio album by The Beatles, recorded largely between April and August 1969 at EMI Studios (now Abbey Road Studios) in London and released on 26 September 1969 on Apple Records. It was the last album the four recorded together (Let It Be came out later but had been substantially recorded earlier) and represents the group working at the peak of its studio craft under producer George Martin, with Geoff Emerick and Phil McDonald engineering.

Side one holds some of the band's most recognised songs as individual tracks: George Harrison's Something and Here Comes The Sun, Lennon's heavy, driving Come Together, and Ringo Starr's Octopus's Garden. Side two is dominated by the long medley running from You Never Give Me Your Money through Golden Slumbers, Carry That Weight and The End, one of the most celebrated sequences in popular music, capped by the 23-second hidden coda Her Majesty.

This 50th Anniversary Edition, released on 27 September 2019, presents a new stereo mix by Giles Martin and Sam Okell, sourced from the original eight-track session tapes at Abbey Road Studios. It is pressed on 180g vinyl by Optimal Media GmbH in Germany, with lacquers cut at Abbey Road Studios.
