This comprehensive 34-track double LP draws on the full span of their recordings, from the earliest classics through to the later albums, and is further enhanced by a selection of celebrated solo recordings from Mama Cass Elliot, making it the most complete single overview of the group's extraordinary legacy available on vinyl.

Formed in 1965 in New York City by John and Michelle Phillips, Denny Doherty and Cass Elliot, The Mamas & The Papas arrived fully formed — their lush, intricately arranged four-part harmonies immediately distinguishing them from everything else on the American pop landscape. Produced by Lou Adler for Dunhill Records, their records had a warmth, sophistication and emotional directness that made them instant classics, and the group helped define the sound of the California sunshine era even though they were a product of New York's Greenwich Village folk scene.

Their commercial success was spectacular. "California Dreamin'" — perhaps the most evocative song ever written about a place — reached number four on the US Billboard Hot 100 in early 1966 and has never left the cultural consciousness since. "Monday, Monday" became the group's only US number one single, winning the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Rock and Roll Group Performance. "I Saw Her Again", "Dedicated to the One I Love", "Creeque Alley" and "Words of Love" all followed as major international hits, and their debut album If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears reached number one on the US Billboard 200. In total they sold close to 40 million records worldwide and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.

The Collected compilation also features some of Mama Cass Elliot's finest solo work — including the joyously defiant "Make Your Own Kind of Music", the sparkling "It's Getting Better" and the tender "Welcome to the World" — rounding out a package that covers the full range of her remarkable talent. Presented in a gatefold sleeve, pressed on 2× 180g heavyweight black vinyl, and part of Music On Vinyl's acclaimed Collected audiophile series.
