Experience is the debut studio album from The Prodigy, released in September 1992 on XL Recordings, and one of the defining records of the early-90s rave scene. At its centre is Liam Howlett — then barely out of his teens — who wrote, produced, and engineered the entire album at Earthbound Studios. The record captured the raw, hedonistic energy of the UK’s burgeoning dance music underground and translated it into something that crossed over to a mainstream audience without losing an ounce of its intensity.
Tracks like “Charly”, “Out of Space”, and “Everybody in the Place” had already been enormous singles before the album’s release, but heard in sequence they form part of a larger, more cohesive statement than their chart success might suggest. “Jericho” and “Weather Experience” demonstrate Howlett’s ambitions beyond the dancefloor. This 2LP gatefold reissue presents the album as it was intended to be heard — loud, physical, and relentless.
