Released on 28 October 2024 via Columbia Records, it arrived as the follow-up to the critically acclaimed Call Me If You Get Lost (2021) and confirmed Tyler's position as one of the most inventive and genuinely artistic forces in contemporary music.

The album is a deeply introspective work, circling obsessively around themes of identity, fame, ageing, authenticity and the tension between public persona and private self. A recurring motif is the mask — both literally, in its striking visual aesthetic, and metaphorically, as Tyler interrogates the facades that fame demands. Most strikingly, the album is narrated throughout by his mother, Bonita Smith, whose voice opens and reappears across the record, grounding its more abstract concerns in something deeply personal and human.

Musically, Chromakopia is characteristically eclectic — blending hard-hitting hip-hop, lush R&B, jazz-inflected arrangements and explosive production into a cohesive whole that rewards repeated listening. Collaborators include Daniel Caesar, Teezo Touchdown, ScHoolboy Q, Santigold, GloRilla, Sexyy Red, Lil Wayne, Lola Young and Doechii — a lineup that reflects both Tyler's broad musical taste and his status as one of the industry's most sought-after creative collaborators.

Standout tracks include the dramatic, orchestrated opener "St. Chroma" featuring Daniel Caesar; the paranoid, propulsive "Noid"; the explosive posse cut "Sticky" featuring GloRilla, Sexyy Red and Lil Wayne; the tender, reflective "Like Him" featuring Lola Young; and the emotionally direct "Mother", one of the album's most affecting moments. Closing track "I Hope You Find Your Way Home" brings the album to a quietly devastating conclusion.

Chromakopia debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 and number one on the UK Albums Chart, selling over 300,000 copies in its first week in the US alone — the biggest first-week sales figure of Tyler's career. It received widespread critical acclaim, with many publications placing it among the best albums of 2024.
