Wasting Light is the seventh studio album by Foo Fighters, recorded entirely on analogue tape in Dave Grohl's garage in Encino, California. Produced by Butch Vig -- who had produced Nirvana's Nevermind two decades earlier -- the album is the heaviest and most immediate record in the band's catalogue, its raw, unprocessed sound a deliberate rejection of digital production techniques.

Rope drives forward on a taut, angular riff and became one of the band's biggest rock radio hits. Bridge Burning opens the album at full intensity, its stacked guitar layers and relentless tempo setting the tone. Walk builds from a measured verse into one of Grohl's most anthemic choruses. These Days pairs muscular riffs with a surprisingly emotional vocal performance, while Dear Rosemary features a guest vocal from Husker Du and Sugar's Bob Mould. I Should Have Known, featuring Krist Novoselic on bass, is the album's most personal moment, a slow-burning meditation on loss. White Limo is a pure punk-speed assault. The album debuted at number one in twelve countries.
