Description

Frank Zappa's Hot Rats was originally released in October 1969 and stands as one of the earliest and most influential jazz-rock fusion albums. Recorded at T.T.G. Studios, Sunset Sound and Whitney Studios in Los Angeles, it was Zappa's first album to use 16-track recording technology, allowing the dense layering that defines tracks like the instrumental opener Peaches En Regalia and the extended The Gumbo Variations.

Captain Beefheart provides the sole vocal performance on Willie The Pimp, while the rest of the album is purely instrumental. The line-up features Ian Underwood across piano, organ, flute, clarinet and saxophone, alongside guitarists Lowell George and Shuggie Otis on bass, drummers John Guerin, Paul Humphrey and Ron Selico, and violinists Don "Sugarcane" Harris and Jean-Luc Ponty.

This Zappa Records reissue was remastered by Bernie Grundman directly from the original analogue master tapes and pressed on 180g vinyl at Pallas in Germany, presented in a gatefold sleeve.
