Description

Turn On The Bright Lights is the brooding debut that launched Interpol into the indie rock stratosphere — a stark, atmospheric record steeped in post-punk melancholy and New York cool. This 2012 Matador reissue is pressed on 180g heavyweight vinyl, housed in a replica single sleeve, and includes a download code for the full album. The reissue preserves the original mastering and artwork, with catalogue number OLE 5450 on the sleeve and OLE 5451 etched in the runout groove.

Produced by Peter Katis and Gareth Jones, the album features the classic lineup of Paul Banks, Daniel Kessler, Carlos Dengler, and Sam Fogarino. With iconic tracks like “Obstacle 1,” “NYC,” “PDA,” and “Stella Was A Diver And She Was Always Down,” the album blends wiry guitars, glacial basslines, and detached vocals into a sound that echoes Joy Division, The Chameleons, and early U2. It’s consistently ranked among the best debuts of the 2000s, earning praise from Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, and NME.
