The Blueprint is the sixth studio album by Jay-Z, released on 11 September 2001 on Roc-A-Fella Records. It is widely considered one of the greatest hip-hop albums ever made and marked a deliberate artistic pivot: after the glossy, pop-leaning sound of Vol. 3... Life and Times of S. Carter, Jay-Z stripped things back, building the album almost entirely around soulful, sample-heavy production that drew from classic R&B and soul records.

The album introduced a young Kanye West as a major producer, with West contributing four tracks including Izzo (H.O.V.A.), which became one of Jay-Z's biggest hits, and Heart of the City (Ain't No Love), built around a Bobby Bland sample. Just Blaze provided the other sonic pillar, with his bombastic, orchestral beats driving Song Cry, U Don't Know and the album's emotional centrepiece Girls, Girls, Girls. Bink! contributed the opening track The Ruler's Back and the devastating Nas diss track Takeover.

Released on the morning of September 11, 2001, the album's commercial rollout was overshadowed by world events, but it nonetheless debuted at number one and has since been recognised as a landmark in hip-hop history. This reissue presents the full album across two LPs on vinyl.
