British Steel is the sixth studio album by Judas Priest and the record that transformed them from a cult heavy metal band into arena headliners. Stripping back the complex arrangements of earlier albums in favour of direct, riff-driven songs with anthemic choruses, the album defined a template for commercial heavy metal that would dominate the 1980s.

Breaking the Law is one of the most iconic metal songs ever recorded, its instantly recognisable opening riff and singalong chorus making it a permanent fixture of rock radio. Living After Midnight is equally anthemic, a celebration of excess that became a fan favourite. Metal Gods introduced the industrial clanking sounds that would influence generations of metal bands.
