Description

Mordechai is the third studio album by Khruangbin, named after a friend of the band whose life story inspired the record's themes of community and shared experience. The album marks a shift toward greater use of vocals, with Laura Lee's singing featuring more prominently than on previous releases while the band's global-grooves-through-a-psychedelic-lens approach remains intact.

Time (You and I) is the album's most immediate track, its buoyant melody and warm vocal making it one of the band's most accessible songs. So We Won't Forget carries a wistful, nostalgic quality. Pelota opens with a cumbia-influenced rhythm before the band's trademark guitar tone takes over. Father Bird, Mother Bird and If There Is No Question showcase the trio's ability to create spacious, contemplative soundscapes where every note serves the groove.
