Make-Up Is a Lie is the fourteenth solo studio album from Morrissey, released on 27 February 2026 on Sire / Warner Records — his first album in six years and a welcome return for one of British pop’s most persistently provocative and literate voices. Recorded at Studio La Fabrique in the Saint-Rémy-de-Provence region of southern France and reuniting Morrissey with producer Joe Chiccarelli, the album delivers twelve new songs alongside a superb cover of Roxy Music’s “Amazona”.

As ever with Morrissey, the album marries sardonic wit, melodramatic vocal delivery, and an underlying romantic bleakness that has defined his work across four decades. Tracks like “Notre-Dame”, “Boulevard”, and the title track demonstrate that his craft as a songwriter and his singular voice remain genuinely distinctive quantities in contemporary music.
