Dog Man Star is the second studio album by Suede, released on 10 October 1994 on Nude Records. It was recorded during a period of extreme tension within the band, with guitarist Bernard Butler and singer Brett Anderson barely on speaking terms, and Butler ultimately left before the album was finished. The creative friction produced something remarkable: an ambitious, cinematic record that reached far beyond the indie-glam of their debut into orchestral grandeur, gothic atmosphere and raw emotional intensity.

Produced by Ed Buller with string arrangements by a young Neil Codling (who would later join the band), Dog Man Star is built on sweeping dynamics. The Wild Ones is one of the great British singles of the 1990s, a soaring, string-laden ballad about doomed romance. We Are the Pigs is a feral, distorted opener. The Asphalt World stretches past nine minutes of building intensity. New Generation channels glam rock swagger, while The 2 of Us and Still Life explore quieter, more fragile territory.

Though it was a commercial disappointment on release, falling in the shadow of the Blur-vs-Oasis narrative, Dog Man Star has been widely reappraised as one of the finest British albums of the decade. This reissue on Edsel/Demon presents the album across two 180g LPs in a gatefold sleeve.
