To mark the ten‑year anniversary of their cult‑classic debut, Khruangbin returned to the same Texas barn where The Universe Smiles Upon You was first conceived — dirt floor, freezing temperatures, minimal isolation, and everything recorded live. The result is The Universe Smiles Upon You ii, a complete re‑recording that reimagines the original songs through the lens of a decade spent touring the world and refining their hypnotic sound.

The band approached the project as a conversation with their younger selves: not to recreate the past, but to rediscover it. Some tracks stay close to their roots; others evolve into new shapes, capturing the warmth, looseness, and telepathic interplay of Khruangbin’s modern live performances.

Recorded on January 4–6, 2025, exactly ten years after the original sessions, the album carries the ambience of the barn itself — creaking wood, rattles, and even birdsong (listen for them on “August Twelve ii”). It’s a spacious, serene, deeply textured reinterpretation that feels like meeting an old friend again for the first time.

This release include a newly reimagined cover by original artist Samuel Muir. The gatefold package includes photography documenting the unique recording environment, captured by long‑time collaborator Jackie Lee Young. The vinyl is clear "natural vinyl".
