Collection: Cream Vinyl Records

Cream existed for barely two and a half years between 1966 and 1968 — and produced four studio albums that effectively invented the heavy-rock power trio. Eric Clapton's guitar, Jack Bruce's bass and vocals, Ginger Baker's drumming each pushed against the others' virtuosity, and the records have a tension and combustibility most studio bands never achieve.

The Atco/Reaction pressings from the period are sought-after; modern reissues from the original masters preserve the room sound that compressed badly on CD.

Best Cream Albums on Vinyl

Disraeli Gears (1967)
— Their breakthrough. "Sunshine of Your Love", "Tales of Brave Ulysses", "Strange Brew". The psychedelic-blues record.

Wheels of Fire (1968)
— Double album, half studio and half live. The live disc captures the band at their improvisational peak.

Fresh Cream (1966)
— The debut. "I Feel Free", "N.S.U.", "Spoonful". Looser and bluesier than what followed.

Goodbye (1969)
— Their farewell, recorded after the band had split. "Badge", co-written with George Harrison, is the standout.
