Collection: Ólafur Arnalds Vinyl Records

Ólafur Arnalds has built one of the most distinctive contemporary classical catalogues of the past two decades. The Icelandic composer's work — solo piano-and-strings records, the Broadchurch score, the Stratus-system improvisations on re:member and some kind of peace — sits at the intersection of minimalism, ambient electronics and chamber music, and has reshaped what a young classical composer's catalogue can look like.

The vinyl pressings benefit hugely from the format. The string textures and the close-mic'd piano work that defines his sound need the dynamic range that LP playback gives — and the Mercury KX issues are well-cut and beautifully packaged.
